Together with Fontys Hogeschool Eindhoven, Mudguard challenged students to explore identity, creativity and impact beyond standard education. Through the Meaningful You challenge, storytelling became a tool to build confidence, direction and belief.
A challenge that hit different
From March to May 2025, Mudguard entered the classrooms of Fontys in Eindhoven. First year students who were still searching for their direction within the HBO program were invited to explore through real challenges. One of those was Meaningful You.
Through close collaboration with Davey and Hannah, Mudguard helped shape a challenge built around creativity, identity and community impact. The goal was never to sell clothing. It was to show students how vision, design and storytelling can change the way you see yourself and the world around you.
What Meaningful You stood for
Meaningful You was not about grades or right answers. Students worked in teams, defined a target group, conducted real research and created something that carried genuine meaning. A product, a service or a story.
Each group documented their entire creative process in a short documentary, reflected on their role within the team and presented their outcome in an interactive way. Growth, courage and creativity were the only measures that mattered. When Mudguard was introduced, the brief was clear. Create a visual online campaign. Not a standard ad or recycled format, but something bold. A short film, a cinematic story or viral content that makes people feel. No fast fashion. Emotion, art and impact.
From students to creators
The outcomes showed exactly why this challenge worked. Multiple groups created short films, each with their own angle. Some aligned closely with the Mudguard identity, others pushed boundaries and challenged the brand to look at itself differently.
The most meaningful moments came from students who started the challenge doubting their creativity. They finished with concepts that carried confidence and power. One student was so inspired that he decided to start his own fashion label and later connected one on one with Kik to take his first steps. That is impact.
Building culture beyond clothing
This collaboration was not about fashion as a product. It was about mindset. Whether you design a t-shirt, film a story or build a campaign, it all starts with believing your story matters.
Mudguard x Fontys showed how education, culture and creativity can come together to inspire a new generation. Not as a one off project, but as the beginning of something meaningful.
