Together with Stichting Vitesse Betrokken, Mudguard explored how creativity can help young people build confidence, express ideas and shape their future. In Arnhem, two pilot workshops marked the start of a collaboration focused on long term community impact.
Piloting in Arnhem
In May 2025, Mudguard hosted two pilot workshops in Arnhem together with Stichting Vitesse Betrokken, guided by Rashad and Bram. As one of the leading community foundations in Dutch professional football, Stichting Vitesse Betrokken works with young people aged 12 to 21 across sport, education and creativity.
Within their Community Champions program, nine different groups follow their own development track, all built around one shared belief. Everyone has a voice and everyone has potential. That belief aligns directly with Mudguard’s mission to use creativity and entrepreneurship as tools for self expression.
Two groups, two experiences
The first workshop was held with a group from practical education. Often underestimated, these students showed sharp thinking and strong creative ideas. With support from the Mudguard team, they translated personal concepts into original t-shirt designs.
The second workshop followed shortly after with a different group, led by Michelle, co responsible for production at Mudguard. This session took a more interactive and accessible approach, matching the energy in the room. Everyone participated, and the concepts quickly took shape. One design stood out. Fifteen year old Boaz drew people abseiling down from the Mudguard logo. His explanation was simple and powerful. Mudguard is something you can climb on and hold on to.
A pilot built for the future
These two workshops confirmed the amount of untapped creativity in Arnhem and showed how seriously Vitesse invests in youth development. For Mudguard, this was never intended as a one time project.
In December 2025, Mudguard will return to Arnhem for four additional workshops with new groups, including refugees, practical education students, young people with mild disabilities and regular education. Each group will receive a tailored approach and their own moment to shine. Because culture and confidence are not built overnight. They are built over time.
